About us If you're anything like us you'll want to know who you are doing business with. If you're even more like us – then you're just a nosey parker with your hooter voyeuristically pressed against the windows of other people's souls. We don't mind - because we know where you live and what you've been up to on Monday nights...
The All Things Bar team is headed up by head honchos
Martin Stevens and Sam Dale.
Our mission is simple:
To help our friends in this wonderful industry by providing useful information; links to great suppliers; and to reflect the fun that we know the pub and bar business is.
Why?
Because we have found great suppliers hard to find - but have been delighted when we have found them.
Because the sharing of knowledge and experience is an honourable activity.
and
Because we meet lots of people through our consultancy work - but we always like bumping into more.
--------------------------------------------
Martin
has been in the bar and leisure business for 24 years - from being a hotel wash up; to a national operations manager; to a bar business consultant.
He is a passionate supporter of the role of all types of licenced venue to the British people - and frowns an awful lot at all this political correctness and media histeria that's impacting our industry at present.
Things like having to type your (any) age to access the website of a perfectly legal, major tax contributing, responsible drinks distributor make the normally affable Martin turn into a seriously grumpy Bunny.
He says that all these token gestures are doing more harm than good and will end up in us all having to sell our products concealed in brown paper bags like we and our customers are the underbelly of civilisation - while politicians are quaffing tons of booze at the taxpayers expense in Westminster.
His likes include cheese; great service; and Rock'n'Rye. Dislikes baked beans; being ripped off; and bar staff who don't know what Angostura Bitters are...
Sam
is a mere pup (compared with Martin!) - but has been in the hospitality business since he was 14. He has progressed through the bartender ranks to become manager of a The Spot Bar in Swindon's Old Town. His role for The Spot group and All Things Bar 'makes' him mix it with a whole host of industry bods from bartenders to brand distributors to promoters.
Sam's likes include drinks brand trivia; free long-haul distillery tours; and lady reps! He dislikes bars that house-pour supermarket vodka; microwave menus; and night clubs flyering in his bar.
Sam's not as grumpy about industry politics as Martin is - but it won't be long before he starts a campaign to get all suppliers to refuse to supply Parliament with booze until politicians stop being hypocritical! (actually it probably won't happen because everyone's too scared of the consequences - of a sober government!!!)
